President Akufo-Addo has commissioned the fifth (5th) of nine (9) Euroget Hospitals under the Ghana Hospital Projects, which are projects that were conceived and started during the John Kufour administration and abandoned by the Mills-Mahama, Mahama- Amissah-Arthur administrations but was revived since the Akufo-Addo-led administration came into office in January 2017.
The proposed projects were a five hundred (500) Bed Miltary Hospital at Afari, in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, one hundred and sixty (160) Bed Regionail Hospital in Wa, in the Upper West Region, two hundred and fifty (250) Bed Regional Hospital atSewua, Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region, sixty (60) Bed District Hospital at Salaga in the Savannah Regiom, sixty (60) Bed District Hospital in Nsawkaw, in the Eastern Region, sixty (60) Bed District Hospital in Tepa, sixty (60) Bed District Hospital at Konongo, in the Ashanti Region, sixty (60) Bed District Hospital at TwifoPraso, in the Central Region and one hundred (100) Bed District Hospital Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region.
With the Commissioning of the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District hospital, five (5) out of the proposed nine (9) have been completed and commissioned with the remaining four soon to be completed and same commissioned by the first quarter of 2021.
Addressing the commissioning ceremony of the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District hospital at the forecourt of the hospital on the 27th of November 2020, President Akufo-Addo said his administration considers the health and well-being of every Ghanaian, a topmost priority. He added that should the people of Ghana re-elect him in the upcoming 7th December 2020 general election, his second administration will give health care even more attention than it has received in his first term in office.
"This hospital has been long awaited in Twifo Praso and it is good that today, a demand for a district hospital of quality as been realized" President Akufo-Addo said.
"The goal of government is to establish in our country, a strong, accessible health care system of world class quality which will guarantee the health and well-being of our people" President Akufo-Addo added.
*Paramount Chief of Twifo Traditional Council*
Nana Appiah Nuamah ll, Paramount Chief of Twifo Traditional Council, in his welcome remarks commended the Akufo-Addo administration for it decision to complete the Euroget hospitals project started several years ago. He called on his subjects to deal favorably with President Akufo-Addo in the December 7th Polls to afford him the opportunity to stay in office for another term.
Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu in his statement at the commissioning ceremony noted that the Akufo-Addo-led government has made Education and Healthcare its two topmost priorities in its management of the country's affairs and that has been evidenced in the number of projects that has been executed in the health sector. He urged the management of the hospital to institute an efficient maintenance system to ensure that the hospital survives to serve many generations.
Twifo Atti-Morkwa District hospital has 28 medical and non medical buildings which is on a floor area of 15,000 meters square. The hospital has a central kitchen and laundry, and ten (10) unit staff housing.
The out patient facilities are; a dental clinic, medicine cardiology, Ophthalmology, Pediatric, Gynecology, General Surgery and Orthopedic. The hospital also has a medical Gas plant for the production of medical gases, sterilization department, training, library and conference rooms.
The facility also has an eighteen (18) body capacity mortuary, a medical waste treatment department and internal, Hospital Information System (HIS) and an Internal and external CCTV system.
