A Kumasi based youth group known as Kumasi Youth Association (KuYA), has honoured the Former Chairman for the governing board of the Ghana National Sports Authority (NSA), Kwadwo Baah Agyemang for his role in reviving the sports industry in the Asanteman.
Kumasi Youth Association particularly singled out the intervention of Kwadwo Baah Agyemeng in the organization of the Asante Akyem Marathon and introducing the Ghana tournament of teqball where the first tournament was held in Asante Akyem Agogo.
A citation read said “The citation of honour is presented to you Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemeng as a recognition of your enthusiastic and unstinting creativity in projecting Asanteman to the national and international front. Your innovative and creative abilities especially in sports has palpably projected the can do spirit in Asante natives. Your efforts are well recognized especially the organization of the Asante Akyem Marathon which attracted foreigners from Ethiopia, Kenya and others to compete in Ghana. Again through your proactive effort, you introduced the Ghana tournament of teqball where the first tournament was held in Asante Akyem Agogo and which your Teqball team took the lead. All of these and other efforts exhibited by you have massively projected Asanteman”.
Speaking after receiving the award, Kwadwo Baah Agyemeng encouraged Ghanaians to be serious in whatever they find their hands on because you don’t know if someone is observing you to be honoured.
He added that We all know that Asanteman is a sports superpower and we can help, identify talents and develop their skills to the world.
The award ceremony was slated on Saturday January 9th, 2021 with the theme, "Rededicating Our Commitment to the Development of Asanteman ''. KuYA will be honouring industrious personalities from the Political landscape, education environment, health, trading, Nananom, et al.
The main idea behind the awards is to first identify the industrious personalities that have dedicated their lifetime towards the building of Asanteman or for the course of Asanteman. We would then honour these assiduous and sedulous Asantes that have enormously fought for the course of Asanteman.
