‘It will be hypocritical for me to deny NDC’- Omanhene of Agogo

Omanhene of Agogo Traditional Area, Nana Akuoko Sarpong has unconditionally assured the largest opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC), that he is solidly behind the party.

He said the party would receive his backing in its quest to win back power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), come the 2020 general elections.

The chief, a former Secretary for Health (Minister for Health), Secretary for Internal Affairs (Minister for the Interior) and Secretary for Chieftaincy Affairs (Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs) member of the council of state under the late Jerry John Rawlings regime said, I are solidly behind you

Nana Akuoko Sarpong declared his stand when former President John Mahama called on him at Asante Akyem Agogo as part of his tour of the Ashanti Region.

Notwithstanding the provisions made in the 1992 Constitution that makes all chiefs nonfunctional members of any political party, Nana Akuoko Sarpong is on record on several occasions not to have never denied media and public allegations that he had been campaigning for the NDC.

He, therefore, advised Mahama to keep his thoughts to himself till the 2020 general elections, when they would be given the opportunity to exercise their franchise. .

Nana Akuoko Sarpong entreated the NDC leadership also to go back with the assurance that he is firmly behind them and they should not be afraid in any way.
