President Akufo-Addo say his incoming second term administration will have the interest of the over six million, two hundred thousand (6,200,000) Ghanaians who voted for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the just ended 7th of December 2020 elections, at heart.
Addressing attendees of National Thanksgiving Services of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) held at the forecourt of the State House l, under the theme: "Ebenezer, thus far the Lorf has helped us", "For the Battle is the Lord's", President Akufo-Addo said while he is grateful to the over six million, seven hundred thousand Ghanaians who voted for him, he can assure those who did not vote for him that their needs and concerns will continue to engage the attention of his administration.
"I want to thank the people of Ghana for maintaining their confidence in our leadership of the Nation, specifically the over six point seven million people who voted for me, but in singling them out, I also want to assure the six point two million who did not vote for me, that I will have their interest at heart and in mind in all that I do" President Akufo-Addo said.
President Akufo-Addo and his Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia, got re-elected for a second term in office on the 7th of December 2020 after Polling six million, seven hundred and thirty thousand, five hundred and eight-seven (6,730,587), representing 51.30% of the total valid votes cast as against the six million, two hundred and thirteen thousand, one hundred and eighty-two (6,213,182) valid votes polled by his closest contender John Mahama which represented 47.36%.
In his sermon at the Thanksgiving service, Apostle Professor Opoku Oyinah, immediate past Chairman of the Church of Pentcost, indicated that the decision of the New Patriotic Party to give thanks to God is a gesture that demonstrates that the NPP recognizes that their success in the 7th of December 2020 elections is the doing of Lord and not based on the efforts of men. He charged the incoming Akufo-Addo administration to put the interest of the entire first in everything it does in office.
As part of the Thanksgiving service, several members of the Clergy joined their faith together and offered prayers for the President and his family, the Vice President and his family, all NPP Members of Parliament elect, incoming ministers of State and government appointees. They also offered prayers for the leadership of the NPP at all levels s well as for the peace and for the people of Ghana.
