Crocodile appears after diversion of subin river

A huge crocodile has been sighted moving into the subin river after the river at Race course Market area had been diverted to make way for the construction of Shops.

According to the Traditional Priests in the community after performing rituals to the River Subin god, the crocodile came out to demand answers to why the river has been diverted for the construction of shops without consulting River Subin which has its head in the market.

They also indicated that the crocodile came out of the subin river to show its original path the river flow.

Many people panicked on hearing of the presence of the carnivorous reptile in the river, others, mostly traders and passers-by, could not let go of the opportunity to catch a glimpse of it.

It will be recalled that Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Wednesday chastised the Bantamahene, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI for trespassing on portions of the Kumasi Race Course land for the construction of shops without permission from the Asantehene.

It had been reported to the Asantehene that the course of the Subin river in the area had also been diverted to make way for the construction.

The Race Course currently hosts a number of traders who were displaced a year ago from the Kejetia Terminal to pave the way for the construction of the Kejetia Central Market.

The area is also close to a bushy area behind the once vibrant Kumasi Zoo.
