Boakye-Gyan, others took bribes from Hilla Liman to betray Rawlings- Ex-Sargent Mugu

Ex-Sargent Samuel ‘Mugu’ Frimpong, a former bodyguard of late former President Jerry John Rawlings has allegedly revealed that Major (rtd) Kwadwo Boakye Djan and other people took bribes from the late former President Hilla Liman to betray his master.

He disclosed this on Adanse3 FM’s Nokware Mmer3, Saturday with Prof Sam while recounting his work experience with Mr Rawlings.

The former bodyguard who was sharing his working experience with the late Rawlings stated without mincing words that Mr. Rawlings was betrayed by the people he trusted like Major (rtd) Kwadwo Boakye Djan took bribes to make Mr. Rawlings look bad in the eyes of Ghanaians.

‘The officers of the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) accepted scholarships from the then President Hilla Liman to study abroad and some officers were gifted with houses which I felt was betrayal to the late Jerry John Rawlings in Dansoman’, he revealed.

Major retired Boakye Gyan has been an avid critic of his former friend following the 1981 coup d’etat that ousted the Hilla Limann government, though he was the main architect of a similar action in 1979 that “cleaned” a lot of state officials and private businessmen in Ghana at the time.
