Akufo-Addo failed to fight against corruption due to family and friends governance

Former Chairman for Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) has said that the Akufo-Addo led government has failed woefully in the fight against corruption due to family and friends governance.

speaking on Adanse3 98.9 FM's Saturday 23rd January, 2021, morning show dubbed Nokware Mmer3 (Moment Of Truth) with the host Prof. Sam, Dr. Steve Manteaw said, " president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo paraded his family members and friends in top most position in his four years and this render the president incapacitated to deal with those who engaged in corrupt practices in his government."

According to Dr. Steve Manteaw, Nana Addo is comfortable cracking the whip when the culprit isn't part of his family and friends cabal. He cited examples that "A report from CHRAJ indicated that Mr. Agyei who works at the procurement authority had been engaged in dubious and corrupt deals and conduct and he was with immediate effect dismissed from office without a trial at any competent court of jurisdiction. However, nothing was done to Hon. Ken Ofori Atta and Gaby Otchere Darko when the special prosecutor sighted rigging a procurement process involved the finance minister and others, who were believed to be the president’s cousin and nephew in the Agyapa Royal deal. Because of family ties of the perpetrator with the president they had been left to the hook."

Dr. Manteaw cited many examples which indicated that the president has demonstrated a lack of political will to fight the corruption menace in the country and especially in his government as well as among his own appointees.
